A SPACE TO ENGAGE, EDUCATE, AND INSPIRE

We welcome everyone to explore our beautiful Walatowa Visitor Center, which includes the Walatowa History Museum and Gift Shop. Enjoy an intimate day of learning and shopping in our beautiful Puebloan styled center.

The Walatowa History Museum takes our visitors on a unique Hemish (Jemez) cultural journey as we share our history and how our Towa culture and traditions continue to guide our people today.

Our gift shop has curated a beautiful collection of local Native American art, jewelry, and cultural gifts. All of our merchandise and inventory is sourced from local Native artists and carefully selected by our staff. We specialize in our world renown Jemez Pottery, beautiful stone sculptures, basketry, embroidered woven cloths, exquisite moccasins and jewelry. Also, enjoy a wide selection of collectibles and gifts, including Native American music, books, jewelry, and adult/youth apparel. Today, like most of its sister pueblos, Jemez pottery has taken on a contemporary format as opposed to the traditional utilitarian pottery made by our ancestors. Contemporary Jemez Pottery has advanced to new levels of quality, technique, and form. Pottery styles include matte polychrome with natural pigments on polished redware, exquisite melon pots and sgraffito pots. Made in both polished redware and tanware.

Interested in something we don’t have, let us help you connect with our network of Native artists either from the Pueblo of Jemez or across New Mexico.

Keep up on the latest with our social media feeds where we post the latest additions of art, pottery, jewlery and events.
